Teach & Be Taught
ATXCAN: Austin Community Allies Network is a civic-action initiative striving for a world where people are more deeply engaged with activism. We host workshops and trainings for the community to learn how to challenge political systems, build capacity for positive change, and create a more just, equitable, and sustainable democratic future.
Our model of “Teach and Be Taught” leverages the diverse knowledge in our community based on the principle that we can learn from each other.
Though collaboration, conversations, and a commitment to public good, we can become the best and bravest versions of ourselves. We host workshops and trainings twice a month, typically on Tuesdays.
Our Value is in Our Values
We hold our community to be our biggest asset and we believe in supporting each other in health, happiness, and success.
We are receptiveness to new ideas, viewpoints, and information. We encourage sharing freely and we respect the humanity within individuals.
We strive to act morally, ethically, and politely. Honesty and truthfulness are pillars of our organization.
We take risks and act innovatively with confidence and courage. Strength, vividness, and clarity guide our actions.
A Safe Space for All
ATX CAN was established in late 2016 by a group of Austinites.
We strive to create a space that is safe and welcoming to all.
This is a pro-choice, a pro-woman space, and a pro-humanity space.
This is a space where those living with disabilities should feel safe.
This is a space where our Muslim, Jewish, and other religious identifying community members can feel safe.
This is a space where our GLTBQ friends should feel safe to express themselves.
This is a space committed to using kind, compassionate, and supportive language.
This is a space to promote social action, fundraising, and opportunities to engage. This is not a space for businesses.
This space has a zero tolerance bullying and shaming policy.
